Please step up to the plate. Only five shots to be fired. Only a few precious hours left before I start my travel to DC and I don't mind talking to myself. You are most welcome to interject me with a post stating your contribution.
In my posts so far, I have tried to maintain a distinction between donation and contribution. In my dictionary these are two separate words. If you go thru my earlier posts, I had never requested for donations, every time I used the word contribution.
For me the only big difference is; donations are made because you heart told you to part with a small fortune because the cause was moving or the subject was close to your heart earlier (but it does not affect you now). Successful outcome is not probably important to you. (For example donating to American Cancer Society). You do not stay back to make sure the cause was actually fulfilled, you would like to, but other events in your life draw you away. Contributions on the other hand are part help and part self help. You believe in the cause and you stay back to make sure the outcome is moving in the right direction, and if it doesn’t, you tend to loose, not only your contribution but your passion too,which is valued so much more than your monetarycontribtion, and if the cause is getting lost you try to bring it back on the tracks someway, somehow.

I think this question may have been addressed before, so I apologize for the duplication.
I am trying to change my job and have an approved I-140 with a priority date of August 2006. The question is if I am successful in porting my old August PD for my new I-140 applied after May 2007, would I come under this new merit system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I come from a nuclear family in India and see no reason why my kid cannot develop into a good citizen the way my parents made sure I did..........
I learnt at a very young age that living with your cousins/uncles/aunts is not necessarily a guarantee of being close........ I am a lot closer to family I never lived with in the same city than I am to family who lived a few blocks from where we did.........
It is all in how the parents mold the environment for their kids. if we as parents fail in our duty towards our kids, does not matter where you live, we will do a great disservice to society..........
Sure, I dont think there is any one correct answer for this dilemma. Most of us are going to base our decisions on our personal circumstances and hope that they turn out correct in the long run :)

mbawa.. It is always nice to sit on the side and blame it all on the leaders here. First thing you have to remember is that these poor/great folks (poor for representing people like you and great for working for representing all immigrant hopefuls) are really working for YOU and me. It is quite convenient to blame others than doing things yourself. If you think you are any better, why not come up with your USEFUL/GREAT ideas and see if the IV core respects those ideas or not. Lobbying or not, when the government is ready to think about CIR or immigration in general, I am pretty sure that IV can make OUR voice heard. Got the point?

I got a RFE for I-693 (Medical Exam) on Jan 27 and we responded in Feb. Our case is being processed in NSC. My husband is the primary applicant. It does seem like something is cooking there...

Yes, your assumption is wrong. The dates move when USCIS doesn't approve many cases ina month. That leaves DOS to believe that there are no enough demand and hence they move dates forward. but as I said, I am very positive that the movement is to facilitate CP to approve cases. I wont be surprised if they move EB2 further next month.

Pardon my ingnorance, but if I wanted to start a small time business where I do website development and designing either myself or by a company outside US, do I need to file as an LLC or can I register as a small business. Can someone tell me where I might get details for registering a company (Or is that same as LLC).
I was thinking I will not get EAD earlier than 6 months and I got it in less than 6 weeks....so now am doing some basic ground work and would appreciate any guidance !!

Based on what my lawyer said, this is how it happens.
1. LC/I-140 processing is independent from I-485.
2. I-485 RD is critical.
3. When your date comes and when they review your application, they will check if your I-140 is approved or not. Then they will look in the application and if everything is ok (FP, background check - Name check etc) and if VISA number is available, you will get it.
If they don't have VISA numbers available, they will not process any I-485. So, availability of VISA numbers is key when they process I-485.
PD of I-140 comes into play when we have retrogression. Since they opened flood gates, all of us who apply now will go by our I-485 RD. Until substantial numbers of our applications are cleared, there is no chance that future VISA bulletins will be current. Even though future VISA bulletins show PD way earlier than your PD, your I-485 may get approved since you are in the system.
So, who ever gets to apply I-485 are in much better shape than people with PDs in 2002 or 2003 but do not file I-485 now.
REMEMBER, USCIS USUALLY DO NOT FOLLOW ORDER AND YOU HAVE TO BE VERY LUCKY OTHER THAN TURNING ALL THE RIGHT PAPER WORK.

I could not speak to senators personally as both were unavailable but I spoke to their office staff and both have listened me and have guranteed to make sure this reaches to senator's eyes and ears.

Why don't you listen to others on this forum? No one is out to screw H-1s and/or GC aspirants as far as the rebate is concerned. Read the previous post by gg10004. The law is not differentiating between a H1 and GC aspirant or a US citizen if none of them have a valid SSN. It is just unfortunate that H4s do not get SSNs. So stop getting paranoid.
Moreover, your response that your title "No Stimulus Package to H1's and GC Aspirants - Again We Loose 1200$" is justified because titles are not for stories or whatever makes you look like an utter idiot. Titles are for accurately reflecting the gist of the thread. An unconfirmed sources of information has just released a report that the Sen. Bill Frist, Majority Leader is pushing a two-week full Senate floor debate beginning from March 20, 2006 rather than March 27, 2006. This report is indirectly supported by another news that the Senate Judiciary Committee is pressed to extend their additional mark-up on Friday, March 17 to finish up the Committee action before the end of the week.

Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to pickup the Sen. Specter's Mark of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform bills today. Initially it was scheduled for two days, March 15 and March 16, but the AILA has just obtained the information that the Committee has tentatively extended the mark-up on March 17, Friday as well in order to finish up this business within this week. As we reported earlier, the Committee has been working on a tight schedule because of the pressure from Senator Frist, the Majority Leader of the Senate to start debate on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform in the Senate beginning from March 27, 2006.
Now is the time for everyone to pickup the phone or send emails to the Senate Judiciary Committee members to urge them to support the bills. Otherwise it will be too late.
